Special 5th Wednesday Performance by Arlie-Avery Asiu & Alika Nako’oka

FREE and open to the public, this musical performance is an opportunity to join fellow music lovers and listen to some of Hawaii’s finest entertainers.

Arlie-Avery Asiu

Multi Nā Hōkū Hanohano award nominee for this year including Album of the Year, ‘Ukulele Album of the Year, Instrumental Composition, and Entertainer of the Year, Arlie started composing at age 9. 

He recorded his first album, Everything in Time, in April 2014.  The first track on the album, “Song for Kuhea” reflects the affection for his wife, as it was released just in time for his wedding.

His second album, “Ukulele….Off the Couch”, released in May 2016, incorporates jazz, rock and Hawaiian sounds into ten original tunes.  His instrumental songs blend ‘ukulele with cello, bass, saxophone, various drums and in true Hawaii style – a rubber slippah.  It features several guest musicians, including Bonnie Raitt’s bass player, James “Hutch” Hutchinson. 

Alika Nako’oka

Alika is an accomplished musician and Singer/Songwriter and has won many Songwriting and Talent competitions.  He grew up with the “Island Sounds” of Hawaii, and was later influenced by artists like George Michael, Smokey Robinson, Michael Jackson, and Marvin Gaye. 

He comes from a long line of entertainers and has shared the stage with many of Hawaii’s top entertainers, recorded with Grammy award-winning artists, and performed with legendary artists Ray Charles, Bill Medley, and Chubby Checkers.  Alika recently completed a five-week concert tour of the Mainland and the Hawaiian Islands.
