Ukulele Mix Plate

Wednesday, July 13, 27
5:30pm - 7:00pm

Location: First Level Fountain Courtyard

Mele Ukulele has been handcrafting professional-quality ukuleles for over 23 years. Their original retail store location has held the same Wailuku address, on Kaahumanu Ave, for over 20 years. With a second store location at The Shops at Wailea, the company has expanded their inventory, but retained their focus on the ukulele.  By concentrating on the ukulele (plus accessories and ukulele-related gift items) and working with genuine Hawaiian koa wood and other top-quality materials, they have become the most established manufacturer, and one of the top retailers, of ukuleles on Maui.

Each session begins with an ukulele demonstration by an ukulele teacher, where you will learn everything you need to know to play simple songs on the ukulele in a few different keys.  This will be followed by a performance on the ukulele by one or more of Mauiʻs finest players. (There are a lot of fine players on Maui, and this is your chance to see and hear for yourself.)

After the performance concludes, you can visit Mele Ukulele on the balcony level near Tommy Bahama and get a free personalized mini-lesson or just try out what you have learned on one of the many fine instruments whose prices range from under $60 up into the thousands.

Mark your calendars and join us at The Shops at Wailea to be a part of this cultural experience that involves Hawaii’s official state instrument and historic treasure, the ukulele!

Special event parking, $5 for 4 hours, with a portion of the proceeds to benefit Habitat for Humanity.
